PROJECTS & TECHNIQUES FOR METAL CLAY JEWELRY:

Available wherever books are soldĀ

Creating the projects and writing this book was such a pleasure. It gave me the best reason to lose myself in “my work.” It also allowed me the freedom to create projects and designs that spoke to me, with the hope they speak to you, too.

The projects are outlined as a place to start and then progress in complexity to provide challenges while supporting you for success. The finished pieces are designed to entice and empower you whether metal clay is new to you, if you have tried the material but didn’t find the success you were hoping for, or to call you back to metal clay if you tried it and moved on to other things.Ā

HEART & HANDS of a MAKER podcast

Sessions filled with great ideas, inspirational stories, everyday little joys, and life's big dreams. Each week, my guests and I discuss topics such as creating, the maker's life, business challenges and successes!

Every project starts with possibility.

There’s something about preparing my workspace that gets me in the zone. Laying out my tools, arranging each one within easy reach, and setting them on my beautiful work surface is more than organizing—it’s part of the creative process.

Before there’s a pendant, bracelet, or pair of earrings, there’s this quiet moment. The ideas begin to take shape long before the clay does.

Today’s setup has me feeling inspired, and I can’t wait to see where this next design leads.

Do you have a creative ritual before you begin making? I’d love to hear what helps put you in the creative mindset.

What happens when you stop trying to control the paint… and let the color lead?

Alcohol inks are vibrant, flowing, and wonderfully unpredictable. In this beginner-friendly workshop, artist Nina Yocom will introduce you to the techniques, surfaces, and tools that make this medium so captivating.

Together you’ll explore synthetic papers, canvas, ceramic tile, and more while creating several frame-worthy pieces of your own.

The finishing touches can change everything. ✨

It’s often those last little decisions—the added detail, the final adjustment, the one-more-thing-that-it-needs—that take a jewelry design from almost there to fnished.

on August 6 at 1 PM Eastern, I’ll be sharing some wire techniques as part of Jewelry Business Forum Summer Camp, hosted by @halsteadjewelrysupplies

Summer Camp takes place August 5–6, with jewelry-making experts sharing techniques, ideas, and inspiration throughout the two-day virtual event.

Come learn with us—and maybe discover a finishing touch you can bring to your next design.

The next project starts here.

Cleaning up the studio isn’t the most creative part of a new design - but it’s part of the process.

Every loose piece of wire gets checked for gauge, matched with its twin, and sealed up to help prevent tarnish. It keeps the studio organized, helps me work more efficiently, and means I’m less likely to buy something I already have. (Anyone else guilty of that?) šŸ˜‚

There’s something satisfying about putting everything back where it belongs—especially when you know what comes next.

A clear workspace.
A fresh start.
The next design.

Time to begin again.

Big Boy 4014 rolled through our town

So thankful for the chance to witness this amazing engine in person, as it made its way toward Philadelphia and as it began the long journey home.

Today’s unexpected stop on Main St., Royersford for a (noted by some in the know) crew change, offered all of us a longer look and time to savor the beauty, the mystic, and the power of the beautiful and massive engine. The stop also made the ride out a little slower, giving us a chance to really appreciate the beautiful and unique cars, including the iconic Pullman.

And to see how strong that engine really is!

During the stop there was even time for some to have a conversation with the crew while others were treated to a commemorative bandana (a crew member handed them out to some of the younger people patiently waiting to witness history).

We’re so fortunate to have the amazing rails right here in town and to see first hand all the system means to our community and surrounding areas. And to then have access to this historic ride.

This meant so much — not only for the historic significance but because this amazing engine, the people who brought it back to life, the people who dedicated time to bring it across our country to commemorate our independence, also brought people together everywhere the train went and everywhere its celebrated.

šŸŽ‰A new (to me) tool! šŸŽ‰

While at @namtaartmaterialsassociation #Creativation2026 I learned about something I’ve been missing.
My whole life.

@glassboard.studio makes the most amazing work surfaces and accessories!!! perfect for (nearly) anything you do in the studio that needs a work surface.

I’ve been working on glass.
For. Ever.
It’s perfect for all my clay work.
Mixed media art.
And so many other things.

My first glass work surface came from an old Xerox machine. I carried it with me wherever I went (not practical!).

My second glass work surface was a little more portable and had measurements on it. It was okay. But had its limits.

this.
THIS is next level!

Not only does it come in a variety of sizes. Colors. And Patterns.
It’s.
Magnetic!

It has a variety of coordinating parts and pieces that solve so many things for me.

If you’re not familiar. Please check them out. Follow them. Then dive in!!!
